Fashion rave: Roberto Cavalli trench

This Roberto Cavalli hand-painted trench coat is to die for
Beauty rave: BB cream
Blemish Balm, or otherwise known as BB cream, is all the rage now in Japan and Korea!
It has just come into Singapore, but not much selection is available. Places to get them are Sasa or Robinsons.
However, I asked my Korean colleague about those brands retailing here and she told me they are low-end brands in Korea! She came down for some training so I got her to buy BB for me from Korea, and she handed this to me today!
It is not cheap though, at USD40 for a 40g bottle.
What IS BB?
I have done some googling on it but hey, I’m not the expert, so I’m going to provide a link.

“The BB Cream, aka Blemish Balm, is *the* hottest beauty product in Asia right now. The product was originated in Germany and used by dermatologists to help patients who have gone through laser skin surgery soothe and regenerate the skin.
Soon after, Korean celebs started using the cream and a craze was born. Big companies then took the idea and turned it into a product widely available to the public. The new product is suitable for all skin types, especially those with sensitive and acne-prone skin. It has the advantages of both a makeup and skincare product. It can even out skintone, camouflage undereye circles, acne scars and add radiance to the skin without the heavy mask-like effects of a foundation. Prolonged used of the product will also help improve the overall texture of the skin and fade acne scars.”
Doesn’t that just sound simply great? I’ll start using it and will edit this post going forward to add on my review.
Day One
Using this for the first time today. The cream is very light, not thick, and thus I’m pleasantly surprised to see that a little goes a long way. It provides light-medium coverage and is quite sufficient to even out pigmentation and cover small spots. I was a little concerned on whether it would be too oily as my colleague told me that BB creams are usually oilier, due to the fact that they were firstly formulated for use after laser treatment, and the oil creates a sort of a protection barrier to the skin. I was advised to use with powder.
I discovered that it’s fine really, and just a little powder is needed to
Restaurant review: Indochine Waterfront ~ Empress Place
- Rice paper spring rolls
- Salad
- Main courses. What is it? Refer to the menu! Pic below.
- Dessert: Mangoes and vanilla ice-cream
I usually enjoy the fare at Indochine very much. It’s very tasty though can be pricey. I do get terribly thirsty after… a sign of… *ahem* excessive MSG in the food. Disclaimer: I could be wrong though!
I usually dine at Siem Reap II or Bar Opiume. It was also at Bar Opiume that I got my VIP card.
The lunch we had was disappointing. Whether it was because we were dining at the Waterfront Restaurant instead, or that our group is too large I wouldn’t know. Service was crappy, too.
Restaurant review: Grill Out ~ Sunset Way
- They serve warm bread, which I think is very important but a lot of restaurants do not do!
- Ribeye steak
- Ox-tail soup
- Tenderloin steak
- Grilled cod
- Sausages
- Dessert: Peach and strawberry flavoured ice-cream
To be honest the food was not very impressive. And after being in Australia my standard on the definition of a good steak has definitely been set pretty high! Prices are ok at about $30 for a main course? But compare that to the taste factor I must said it is not very good value.
Restaurant review: Peach Garden ~ OCBC Building
I’ve been to Peach Garden at OCBC building in Raffles Place many times. This is a very busy restaurant but generally delivers despite the massive lunch crowd. Sichuan Dohua in UOB is still my favourite, perhaps because I like spicy food, but in large groups the standard tends to drop. Not for Peach Garden. They handle large groups and crowds well.
- Entree
- Soup
- Scallops. No matter how, scallops in Singapore are never as tasty or fresh as the ones I’ve had in Perth.
- Noodles with crab meat
- Their famous dish ~ Wasabi Prawns. One of the best I’ve tasted.
- Pork ribs ~ a tad salty, but is tasty
- Dessert: Hashima in young coconut
- Ordinary hook
- What a brilliant idea!
The last bits there regarding the hooks in the toilets. I know it’s a little dumb, but hey! Just goes to show that with a little creativity, even simple things like hooks in toilets can be improved to make things a lot more convenient for the end user. Considering that lots of business lunches taking place here, it makes sense to have a hook that can hold folders… like mine!
Restaurant review: Miharu Sapporo Noodles ~ Gallery Hotel
- Miso ramen
- Spicy ramen
A nice cosy place, value for money. You can ask for more clear soup to add to your ramen if its too salty. Next time I want to try the Gyoza.
Have also attached a link for more details.
Restaurant review: Mag’s Kitchen ~ Boat Quay
Don’t expect my restaurant reviews to be lengthy or terrible informative. What I’ll have, is photos and a general verdict of whether the food, ambience and service is good or not.
- Creme brulee infused with Early Grey
- Ocean trout salami
- Scallop salad
- Duck breast salad
- US steak
The food was pretty good. We had a couple of Hong Kongers with us and they enjoyed the meal, too. Generally a little on the salty side, which is really the only feedback I would give. Ambience is nice. It’s a small restaurant and the service is good, too.
Beauty rave: Kose Junkisei Prime Mask
I have no idea what Junkisei means but the Han words basically says moisturising skin serum. I also do not know what Kose means by Prime Mask.
I was in Tokyo and the cold air was really drying my skin. I decided I should get some facial masks. Afterall, I was in Japan, the land of beauty products, right?
i went into this convenience store similar to the Watsons they have here in Singapore. I was surrounded by loads and loads of beauty products, described in a language I didn’t understand!
Anyway, to cut the story short, I bought this mask out of randomness … well, maybe not that random… I really liked the colour of the packaging! It turned out to be really good! It moisturises and brightens up my skin, lightens spots. Great stuff! I’m going to Japan again in Nov and you can be sure I’ll be stocking up on this.
Smoky eyes
I think that smoky eyes are so nice! Just not entirely sure if they suit me, or if I do it right. But I’m going to try it out for a bit and getting ideas from fashion magazines. Like this one I saw while I was flipping through magazines on my hair stylist’s chair.
