Beauty rave: BB cream

Blemish Balm, or otherwise known as BB cream, is all the rage now in Japan and Korea!

It has just come into Singapore, but not much selection is available. Places to get them are Sasa or Robinsons.

However, I asked my Korean colleague about those brands retailing here and she told me they are low-end brands in Korea! She came down for some training so I got her to buy BB for me from Korea, and she handed this to me today!

It is not cheap though, at USD40 for a 40g bottle.

What IS BB?

I have done some googling on it but hey, I’m not the expert, so I’m going to provide a link.

“The BB Cream, aka Blemish Balm, is *the* hottest beauty product in Asia right now. The product was originated in Germany and used by dermatologists to help patients who have gone through laser skin surgery soothe and regenerate the skin.

Soon after, Korean celebs started using the cream and a craze was born. Big companies then took the idea and turned it into a product widely available to the public. The new product is suitable for all skin types, especially those with sensitive and acne-prone skin. It has the advantages of both a makeup and skincare product. It can even out skintone, camouflage undereye circles, acne scars and add radiance to the skin without the heavy mask-like effects of a foundation. Prolonged used of the product will also help improve the overall texture of the skin and fade acne scars.”

Doesn’t that just sound simply great? I’ll start using it and will edit this post going forward to add on my review.

Day One

Using this for the first time today. The cream is very light, not thick, and thus I’m pleasantly surprised to see that a little goes a long way. It provides light-medium coverage and is quite sufficient to even out pigmentation and cover small spots. I was a little concerned on whether it would be too oily as my colleague told me that BB creams are usually oilier, due to the fact that they were firstly formulated for use after laser treatment, and the oil creates a sort of a protection barrier to the skin. I was advised to use with powder.

I discovered that it’s fine really, and just a little powder is needed to
